New York based Samantha Klein is one of those girls who knows where to find what she wants. The moment she got engaged, she knew the spot that epitomised her love of “less-is-more” and just one week later, it was booked! She thought finding her dress would be just as simple. However, with just three months to go, she was still searching for “the one.” Here, Sam shares how White Dossier gave her style inspiration as a bride and how holding out for what she originally envisioned herself in paid off.

You got married in Montauk. How did you pick your wedding location? Why was it special to you?
Kevin proposed while we were in the Hamptons and we often go out east during the summer so I thought it would be nice to have our wedding in the area. A week after Kevin proposed, I dragged my best friend to Gurney’s. I loved the idea of an oceanfront wedding, which luckily worked out since our wedding was in November.
Did your choice of location influence what you wanted to wear?
Yes and no. I knew the look I was going for: natural, sexy and elegant. However, when I found my ceremony dress, I remember visualizing the day and thinking that this look would complement the beautiful backdrop and overall vibe of the venue.
Did you find it easy, or difficult to decide what to wear for your wedding day?
So difficult! I’m a big online shopper and get anxiety shopping in store. I went to two bridal salons and felt uncomfortable during both experiences. Three months before our wedding, I discovered Danielle Frankel. I reached out to Danielle, she responded right away and I was at her studio with my mum a few days later. I tried on the “Sloane” dress and felt very much like an elevated version of myself. My mum nudged me to go with it and I’m very happy I did.
Talk us through the process of working with Danielle Frankel…
It was a really cool experience working with the designer directly. I love the silhouette’s in Danielle’s collections. Danielle selected “Sloane” for me and it was a perfect match. I tried on one other dress just to make sure. The icing on the cake was working with Danielle to style and alter “Sloane” to me. We both agreed on minimal modifications to achieve a relaxed look and I made it my own by choosing a cream colour.

Did you feel a lot of pressure around what you would wear for your wedding?
Yes, especially because I waited last minute to choose my ceremony dress. It’s strange because I was decisive about every other purchase.
Where did you get your wedding shoes and did they stay on all night?
I ordered my shoes on Net-a-Porter. I went for glossy white patent leather Jimmy Choo sandals. They did stay on all night!
What jewellery did you wear on your wedding day?
I kept it very simple. I wore pearl drop earrings by Danielle Frankel (the same designer as my ceremony dress) and my best friend’s blue topaz and diamond ring.

We also loved your rehearsal dinner look. Talk us through this…
You know, I found this Les Heroines jumpsuit on your Instagram account. As soon as I saw it, I ordered it immediately. I think it’s my favourite piece of clothing ever.

How did you hear about our Bridal Concierge Service?
One of my friends asked me how my wedding dress search was going and I told her I was bored of seeing the same stuff everywhere. She told me about White Dossier so I started following your Instagram account. Your curation was like nothing I had seen in the bridal salons and bridal media. I couldn’t be more obsessed.
Why did you find White Dossier spoke to you as a bride?
White Dossier is the only brand/ service in bridal that I found to be stylish and different. I genuinely love every piece from each designer that you showcase. Looking through all of the White Dossier photos made me feel confident in my wedding wardrobe selections.
You changed into a slip later on. Talk us through this decision and where you found it…
I own a navy Nili Lotan slip dress that I wear to lots of weddings. It’s such a staple dress and I love how I look and feel in it. I purchased it in ivory early on, knowing I would wear it throughout my reception. I debated wearing the slip to the ceremony. Instead, I went for something a little more dramatic.
Describe your wedding make-up and hair to us?
I did my own make-up and had my hair styled in waves. I never wear makeup during the day but I do have an evening makeup routine for when I go out. I added lipstick to that routine for the wedding. I wanted to feel like myself with a little something.
Did you do any beauty prep in the lead up to your wedding?
Yes, I had a few facials at Mario Badescu and used Vintner’s Daughter at night. I also had an incredible facial at Joanna Vargas a couple days before the wedding.

How many bridesmaids did you have and what did they wear?
I had five bridesmaids and they looked drop dead gorgeous! I asked them to wear black and they picked out their own outfits. Each look was by a different designer.
Did you help your fiancé decide on what to wear? What was he suited and booted in?
Kevin has the best taste. He wore a gorgeous Zegna tuxedo with textured velvet shoes by Armani. He looked stunning. I was not involved.
Your wedding photographs are stunning! How did you find your photographer?
Via Rangefinder. Shelley (Michelle Elyse Photography) was an absolute dream to work with. She has such a lovely demeanour and she’s incredibly talented.
With hindsight, if you were to give yourself a piece of advice when creating your wedding looks, what would it be?
Stick to your style, go with your gut and don’t listen to unwanted advice.
